Please contact Jan Henderson (jan.henderson@smackover.net) , Bernadette O’Guinn (bernadette.oguinn@smackover.net) , or Amber Miller (amber.miller@smackover.net) with any unanswered questions so they can be addressed.
As questions arise and new guidelines are introduced, we will provide updates on this page.
How is GPA and class rank being calculated?
- With the exception of concurrent credit and secondary technical courses, 3rd nine weeks averages will count as the final grade for 2nd semester.
- For purposes of class rank and GPA regarding the Class of 2020, class rank and GPA will be calculated based on grades reported for the 3rd nine weeks grading period.
Who is expected to continue working on coursework?
- Students enrolled in Concurrent credit courses through ATU or SouthARK will continue with coursework for completion purposes. Please continue to work or your college transcript will be adversely affected.
- Students enrolled in the Secondary Technical Center will continue with coursework online using Blackboard for completion purposes. SouthARK will reschedule all hands-on components required to complete certifications.
- Seniors enrolled in AP courses are strongly encouraged to sign up for the teacher’s AP Google classrooms to participate in AP review activities.

Are we still having graduation?
- At this time, we are committed to holding a traditional graduation ceremony to celebrate the class of 2020. Alternate dates will be determined soon. However, if closure and distancing recommendations continue into June, an alternate plan for virtual graduation will be decided. Seniors will be surveyed and a panel of representatives will be formed to help prepare for a possible virtual alternative.
Are we still having prom?
- As of right now prom is not cancelled, just postponed. Alternate dates are currently being considered. If we are able to return to normal activity before summer, we will reschedule prom if at all possible.
Will I still be able and required to take AP Exams?
- Yes, AP testing will all be conducted virtually from home. The exams will be modified to remove content that would have been taught in the final 9 weeks. You should be receiving information released by the College Board from your AP teachers.
- Seniors enrolled in AP courses are strongly encouraged to sign up for the teacher’s AP Google classrooms to participate in AP review activities.
- The Commissioner of Education has waived the AP exam requirement to receive weighted credit, but in order to receive college credit for AP courses you must take and pass the AP exam with a score of 3 or better.
How can I get a copy of my transcript and ACT scores?

- Questions and completed applications may be emailed to Mrs. Miller. You may also mail some scholarships directly to the scholarship committee.
When and where do I pick up my cap and gown?

- Senior letters and other important information will also be distributed on April 15th.
Are we still having Senior Day and Senior College Recognition Night?
- Senior Day and Senior College Night will be rescheduled to coincide with graduation. Care will be made to preserve all traditional senior recognition events. Information regarding all senior celebrations will be forthcoming.
Will we still be voting for Outstanding Senior, Mr./Mrs. SHS and other senior personalities?
